Dh and I were outside feeding the chickens today, when these 2 NOISY birds showed up, one perched itself in the tree above the chicken coop, and the other sat in another tree just making this horribly loud racket for hours. (the dog chased them, I think they were afraid to come down) DH thought they were turkeys, but they were def guinea, they were black/white spotted and didn't look like any turkey I have ever seen LOL They looked just like the pics I googled of guineas but they were still pretty young I think...about the size of a 4-5 month old chicken.

I have lived in this house for over 30 years and have never seen these here before. (we are out in the woods) What do I do with them? Should I feed them? If so, what? I know nothing about these birds at ALL. They are still out there, perched in the tree sleeping above the chicken coop. I fed them some chick layer pellets early and they scarfed it up, but then the dog chased them back up the tree. WIll they leave? Stay around? I wouldn't mind at all having them hang around, except I'm afraid the dogs will get them, and they had my chickens in an uproar (mostly the roosters) Could I catch them and put them in a coop? Id rather them be safe if they plan on hanging around. I am totally clueless!

They will make that noise everytime they see something that freaks them out. Even if it is a piece of grass moving.

They are great for eating bugs and as Air Raid Sirens. I'm sure someone couldn't take the noise and took them on a ride that's how the wild ones got around here

They are probably young Guineas that someone just bought and didn't put up for a couple of weeks to make sure they knew where their new home was.

It is possible to round them up but its going to take patience and convincing the dog to leave them be. Right now to the dog they are interlopers that don't belong with the flock.

You've already started part of the process by feeding them. Keep doing that while keeping the dog confined and move the feed closer and closer to the coop. Eventually they'll go in to investigate and that's when you go behind them and close the door. If you want them in a different coop its best to have a soft fishing net to catch them to move them to their own coop.
