Help..Please...What am I doing wrong.They keep dying..

I keep hatching out my silkie eggs and the babies hatch perfect. BUt after a week to two, they just up and die!!!!! I have no idea why.......I have hatched out about 10 so far and the last one from a hatch of three (broody hen) just dies. No reason.. Fine yesterday and just died in my hands!!!!!!!!

What is going on.

Do silkie chicks need special food, something different from the others....

Ihave never had this problem with the other chicks, ducks, ect.. I have hatched......

They are on Hay just like everyone else. There food s gound very small. I do give them and all my chicks the same feed I give the layers. I am only having the problem with the silkies. It is I think 16 percent. I do not have a bag near me. could it be that?\\

You should have starter food for them. I thought you hatched them but they were under the broody hen right?

The last three that died were hatched under a hen. The first 7 or so I hatched. Also, after they hayched under the hen, I took them and put them in the brooder.

just cleared it up some.

I put mine on 18% medicated chick starter. I do not think that the layer is very good for them. That could be the problem.

I would also Bleach the Brooder! there could be any number of reasons they died, from gentics to food.
