Help..Please...What am I doing wrong.They keep dying..

Baby silkies are pretty tiny and may not be able to eat your pullet crumbles. I'd make sure you use chick starter and grind it up in a blender or food processor for at least the first few weeks.
 
As I understand it, the layer feed has WAY too much calcium(and maybe other stuff) for chicks - they can't process or utilize it and their little organs are overwhelmed. My chicks got starter, then finisher/grower, then layer (when they started laying). Also, I've heard of birds on hay, eating it and becoming impacted (crops) because it's so fibrous and tough. Especially if your little ones don't have grit yet... Best of luck with future hatches. I sure hope you figure it out...post and let us know, each person's experience can teach the rest of us a lot.
