Darn it! Grand kids just came screaming their dogs has a mouse. It's not a mouse but a wild baby rabbit. I have no experience with these. Eyes are not open yet. I would put it back in the nest if I knew where it is! We have no idea where the dog got it. Could be anywhere on 6 acre's. Anything we can do for it? I do have powder kitten formula and an eye dropper. I see no visible wounds from the dog. Right now I have it wrapped up in my shirt.....

We were able to locate the nest....but only because my Boston barked his head off at another deceased baby rabbit...sad, but kinda funny because he seemed to know what we were looking for. Pretty sure he was only a day or so old, but got quite active when he got warmed and dry. I placed him back, at the nest in a box with dried hay, right before dark. We all felt comfortable we had done the best we could. Trying to explain to a 10 & 4 year old, all the reasons, we could not keep it was a bit challenging to say the least! Anyways....all was good for about an hour. Out of the blue....it started to rain...no a torrential downpour!! I couldn't stand it...so I took off, back to the nest. The little guy was out of the box, just laying there and drowning. I scooped him back up and made a bee line for the house. We thought he was dead....again! After yet another warming and drying off...he was back! While my Daughter kept him up under her shirt next to her heart....that's just what we do....I found this website, I wanted to share, just in case anyone else needs it. http://www.2ndchance.info/bunnies.htm Awesome information here! We are into the 3rd day and the little guy is still alive! We do have a domestic rabbit ,(Robot Bunny) that gladly shared his night time poop for the formula. His eyes are just beginning to open and taking drops from the pipette quite well. May sound strange to some....but it was quite exciting when he pooped on me while stimulating him with the Q-tip! I know it is still kinda ify that he will survive, but we are staying positive. Wish us luck! I smile just thinking of the day, my Grand kids can witness his release!

P.S. I really wasn't sure where to post this. I did not get any response and not sure... still where to put it, or how to move it to the proper thread. My hope is someone may find this/the link.... useful Thanks for reading :o)

I have heard from wild life rehabilitators that bunnies are very hard to keep alive. Sounds like you are doing a great job. Let us know if he makes it to release day.

I work at a feed store and people are always coming in with baby rabbits they found. It's just natural to want to save them. I usually tell them not to get attached and sell them KMR milk and tell them good luck! Lol Keep up your good work!

Ah! Thanks ya'll. If his eyes and ears were open it would be so much simpler to release. It's a very common mistake to think Mama has abandoned them, but they can forage own their own at a very young age...2 weeks or so! Plus they are real darn cute! Whenever we bush hog the pasture, I make sure the dogs are in just in case a few go a running. No chasing allowed here if I can help it. I feel kinda bad because I was not thinking about my Grand Dog being new to the property. My Daughter and her family just moved on to the property. Leila is a Boxer that lived in the house! She is in Heaven now....being able to run the whole property! Thank goodness it's all fenced with 6 ft chain link. No telling where she would go exploring! LOL I really don't think she knew what she had! She came right to me and let me take it right out of her mouth. What a good dog....I kept thinking! She's a smart dog and learning the "mine" command. All will be good....fingers crossed! :o)
