My 25 week old White leghorn/red sex link mix hen had extremely dirty vent feathers. She has never had this before. I brought her in cut them off. Her vent and skin is pretty red and warm to the touch. She doesn't have anything coming out of her vent. She hasn't been laying for a few weeks but I thought maybe it was because she was just starting out. Now I wonder if something is wrong with her.I looked for lice ect. But she looks really healthy otherwise. She free ranges is on layer crumble access to clean water. I am worried about her. Any ideas?

It could be an intestinal infection; dirty vent feathers and discolored, warm skin are symptoms. Consider using appropriate antibiotics. The hen should be isolated from other birds in case she has something that is contagious.
