I was reading a post in regards to helping a baby chick who was having issues piping, so I followed the directions and got to blood at the very end and the chick was out of the egg but still attached at the umbilical cord, it s breathing still but looks to be somewhat having a hard time, it is still in the incubator with the egg and shell, please help me to try to save this poor baby, we've already lost so many and had 1 baby that couldn't pip die because we didn't help it or natural selection and then had an animal get ahold of 7 other of our chickens. I really want to try to help this baby so my kids don't have to go through anymore loss.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble with your incubation. Had the chick in the above pipped the egg on its own? If so how long had it been pipped? Has it absorbed all the yolk! There looks to be a bit of blood there still with the chick which would point me toward it not been quite ready to hatch.

I see you posted quite a while ago, how is the chick now?

The chick didn't make it, there was to much blood loss I believe, it lasted about an hour. It had piped but the membrane was really dry and I was concerned it was having issues so I tried to help it along some and it just went bad after that. Thank you for asking.

Oh I am so very sorry. It did look from the photo that it had a lot of blood loss. I know these things happen and all chicks can't be saved but, it is still very hard to take. I really understand how you feel. I'm sure you did everything that could be done.
