Help please...

My hen is sick. She is 2 years old. She's very lethargic, pale comb, feather loss around comb. I've checked for lice and mites, no sign. Also not egg bound. I lost my first hen about a month ago and she was showing the same symptoms. I just don't know how to help her!!!
Well if the chicken is outside on a rainy or cold day their comb may get purple and if it's way too cold Pale the toes and legs may get greyish if this is the case they can die from this so try keeping her in a space around 73 degrees and give her an option to go and let her go into the warm space when she wants if she stays in there for about half an hour she should look better a easier option is to try to get her to relax on a warm lap or a heated blanket and keep a hand to her comb to keep it warm and last but not least comfert her having her happy does alot of good and can help her heal and be happy if she is going to die but if this is a sickness I do not have any advice to say but just look up pale and cold chicken on Google and it says a comb turns pale pink if the chicken is to cold

I’m so sorry for your second loss. Do whatever you think is right going forward. If it doesn’t hurt the chickens to treat for worms maybe go ahead. As long as long as it doesn’t hurt them when they don’t have worms. It looks like you have a lot of options in Florida for a necropsy. It may not be cheap but neither is raising a whole new flock. I would have mixed feelings on what to do. And I know my husband wouldn’t approve a necropsy. My thoughts are with you

so sorry for your loss, you did what was humanly possible for her.

double bag her and put in fridge until you can send her off for a necropsy tomorrow if you can, @Eggcessive @Texas Kiki might have the link to your state vet, then you will know for sure what is killing them. I would go ahead and treat the flock with the valbazen anyways think that gape worm and tape worm is the only worms those don't treat, but I must warn you it's taking more coffee than usual to get going as cold as it is here.

Awww, poor little thing. I'm sorry that you both have had to go thru this, it's very sad & puzzling. If you're able to get a necropsy, that will hopefully give you some answers.

Perhaps you might like to do what I do & save a few feathers from her, to remind you of her. I take some from the prettiest areas, head, neck, saddle and that beautiflul fluffy egg bum! I label a small ziplock or medicine bottle with her name & date she passed.

I'm sure that your sweet, little hen knew how much you loved & cared about her. I'm certain that they all do. Maybe spending a little chicken time with the others will help you to feel better. I usually house out & sit with my girls at bed time, since they're all roosting. I talk & tell them chicken stories about how they came to live with us, how they got their names, how much I love them all & always try to help them...though sometimes I just can't save someone who is sick. The seem to understand, I get clucks & trills from all up & down the perches and it always makes my heart feel a little better.
