Hi! I'm new here and to birds. I have a question about my duck. She is almost a year old and her and her sisters just started laying. I noticed Dusty was acting off so I brought her into the house. After some checking and research we came to the conclusion she was egg bound. After trying some of the tips and tricks I found on the internet, we were finally able to help her coax the egg out.

This was yesterday and today she is still not acting right. She seems lethargic, won't eat, super quiet, seems slightly off balance at times. I realize she just went through alot and is stressed and in pain but it's really bothering me that she's not eating ( not even her favorite treats) and I don't know what to do for her. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Is she egg bound again? I would check. If not try filling her bath tub with water and bring her sister in and let them play together. You can try putting treats in the water too .also Try putting the treat in the palm of your hand and lightly pressing it against her beak. You can try putting treats in the water too. If she doesn’t want to eat still after this I would call your local bird vet. Best of luck

I have a duck who also was having egg laying issues and when I brought her to the vet, the vet said that she had a calcium deficiency and recommended I continue to give her calcium citrate +d3 pills every day long term, Isaac originally suggested them to me. If you have a vet that will see poultry in your area I think that would be your best bet, so you can figure out the best possible solution for your specific duck.

Thank you for the tips! It worked wonders. Her sister cheered her up for sure! Got her to eat a little yesterday and she's doing much better today. These girls seem to enjoy being spoiled 😂

Thank you all for the advice! She is doing much better today! Hopefully she won't get egg bound again. I know I definitely need to call around and see if there is an avian vet in my area and I intend on getting a higher calcium food.
