I agree that it's somewhere between 14 and 17 weeks. They could start laying at 18 weeks or not lay til 30 weeks it varies. Once the comb and wattles start getting big you know they'll lay soon

They look around 16 weeks old they start laying in a few weeks.you can look out for the egg dance

Ok thank you for your help hopefully they will lay soon? Is there any other way to tell when they will lay eggs soon? Thank you for all the answers

I have read you can measure the distance between the pelvic bones. If it is 1 fingers width, you have a ways to go, if there is 2 fingers width, she'll go any time.

We sue a combination of indicators.

I like the pelvic one, we have two at 2 fingers width..patiently waiting lol. 1 finger wide 1+month, 1.5, 2-4 weeks 2+ any day now...well that's the theory. We also have a RIR at two fingers, but tiny light pink comb.

Other signs include;

Big comb and wattled,
red faced, combs wattles and ears,
wide level stance,
vocal / 'egg song'
'squatting'
interest in nest boxes.

I think 20-22 weeks is 'average', but like us they mature at different rates, some earlier some a little longer.
