Okay. Here goes. Monday, May 13, 2013, my wife and I purchased a few chicks during our trip to AtwoodWe got them home. Put them in a big wooden box with pine shavings. This is like day 11, and one of them is having an issue... She can't stand anymore? She looks just like she would if she had spraddle leg, and one foot her feet are curled and wont open. I've put a small rubber band around her lower legs to keep them from spreading, and her foot its taped in shape of foot on a cardboard box. (I used surgical tape).

Could this be spraddle leg? I've only read this happening in day old chicks. These have got to be roughly 2-3 weeks.. Any advice is appreciated!!!

If she walked normally for at least a couple days before the problem, then it should not be Spraddle Leg.

That are they eating? Sometimes a nutritional deficiency causes lamenesses.

You can try adding a little vitamin mix powder to the drinking water, or giving a few drops of PolyVisol children's liquid vitamins (the kind WITHOUT iron) a couple times a day to the chick. There are specific nutritional deficiencies that can cause leg problems & you can read about some of them on the Poultry Podiatry page on the website in my sig. Some problems are caused by deficiencies in the parents' diet.
