Help! Premature chick leg stuck in yoke sac

Ok brace is back on. It’s the best I can do with what I have. This is edited because it fell off again, so I had to put duct tape on it to hold it together. I have a chiropractor appointment first thing in the morning and I’ll get some better supplies and just pray she makes it through the night. I can’t seem to regulate the humidity or the temperature for any length of time. I just don’t know what else to do. I’ve never done this before so I don’t know whats too low for the humidity or what’s acceptable for the temperature.
You are doing great. The chick doesn’t need humidity now that it is hatched. If there are air vents in the incubator, make sure they are fully open (If there are plugs in it, pull them out.) The chick needs lots of oxygen now! Keeping it at 95 degrees is okay, but I would try not to do warmer. Get some sleep tonight, I hope tomorrow is better. Hopefully it can be put in the brooder with the other chick soon, keeping a chick in an incubator for an extended period of time isnt great. They will be able to relax much better once they come out of the incubator!

I just tried to put her with her sister, no go. She pecked her terrible. I’ll have to set up another brooder tomorrow. Temp at 97. Better than 100 I guess. Hopefully I can get it lower. No sleeping until I do. She’s the happiest when I hold her, but I’m afraid I’ll fall asleep and drop her.

This might not work depending on how you sleep, but when I have brand new chicks that can't always be in the brooder for some reason (first to hatch, don't want to wake the others when I do a nighttime feed...) I wrap them up in a soft cloth like a chick burrito, with only one layer of cloth underneath them (so they aren't insulated from my body heat) and most of it folded over on top. That goes in the neck of my t-shirt so they have their head just under my chin. At night I'll move them more to one side so I can sleep on my other side.

Still alive this morning, but she’s very weak. I tried to give her some homemade apple juice, some wet feed and water. Thank you for understanding and giving me such great advice. That’s exactly what I’ve been doing with holding her. I held her with her sister this morning for a few minutes. I thought that might help her. Her eyes opened up this morning, but she’s very weak. this morning I was able to get the temperature down in the incubator to 95. It’s 67% humidity. I can’t leave her. She’s going to the dr with me.
She just died tucked up under my chin.

Egg yolk is also really good for struggling new chicks. Watering it down very slightly makes it easier to feed if you're just feeding drops into their beak.

Sometimes they just don't make it but you're doing what you can to give it a chance.

I can't remember if you said - is the other chick alone in a brooder? I'd keep trying to put them in together if you can but otherwise the stronger chick will probably like having a soft toy to cuddle up with.

She just died. The older one has 4 baby chick stuffed animals with her. She very strong. She’s the last egg her mom laid before the Fox killed her. I had 4 eggs in the incubator of Fifi, but only she has survived.

So sorry for your loss 😥 You did everything you could for your little one. Thank you for showing her what it is like to be loved.

I am so glad you still have your strong chick 🥰 I would suggest looking for some chicks locally to put in with her so she isn’t raised alone. It is very hard to raise a single chick. If you can find more young chicks at your local feed store or on Craigslist or local facebook poultry groups, it will make your life so much easier. I would get 2-3 more chicks. 🙏

I have 3 chicks that are 4 weeks old, hatched by their aunt. One was injured and was in the house all week. I’m going to try that first.

Oh that should be great! Especially since the chick you have is a peppy, feisty baby, I bet it will do ok with the others. I would integrate 1 of the older ones in with the youngest. And then after a day or two, integrate the two of them back in with the older ones.

My old softy husband took me to the farm store and we brought home four sisters for her. They too are two days old. I got Silver Laced Wyandotte’s. The two chickens that I wanted last April have now turned into 20. My husband is currently out there measuring to enlarge the run another 10 x 20‘. 😂 thank you so much for all of your help. I really appreciate it! He’s buried with his mommy and sibling now. Examining him closer today I’m pretty sure he was a rooster. My granddaughter’s named him, Charley. I took the littlest of the new chicks and her and held them together to try to help them start bonding.
