bought a new havo-bator weeks ago, plugged it in, finally maintained a 100 degree temp. put in the egg tuner and bought some eggs. everything went well for 10 - 12 days, then I would check on the temp and it would read 104-105, So i opened to cool down, then turned the theromastate to decrease, kept going to 104. kepting adjusting and after a day or so of this got to 100 degrees, thena day or so back to 104. kept up the fight, now it is time to remove the turner. later that day temp is 95 degrees. spent the rest of today turning the temp back up.
i'm thinking the wafer thermostate is crap, (wondered by i see so many replacement wafers on the internet) saturday or sunday is the expected hatch day, these are Maran eggs so candling not affective.
I'm afraid the eggs have over heated and lost the whole batch.
can't seem to find a different thermostate to replace.

i had better control with a homemade incubator and a 40 watt build, hand turning the eggs, got 85% success 3 times, went to fancy store bought bator with turning thinking I'd be cranking out some chicks...

maybe i'm panicing too soon.

need help or asurance

My Marsh Roll-X also has the wafer type T-stat and sometimes I have the same problem as you. I haven't been able to find a different type of t-stat. Although I did notice that the temp outside of the bator effects the temp inside. Do you have yours where the temp is stable? I'm sure the others will chime in

Probably if the heat was just rising the inside of the egg had not reached
that temp. In other words it will take longer for the egg to heat. Should be OK.

all is not lost, last night after original post, i was checking the temp and heard peeping. saw that 2 eggs were starting to peep. not much change by this morning, but come home from work to one, chick out, half dry and other eggs just a little futher along and 3rd starting to peep. today is day 20. I have 14 copper marans eggs, hoping it continues to go well. hope it is all just nervous Dad in me. temp is still low at 96.

I'm hearing that i should use a good thermometer instead of the cheap one that comes with bator.

cross your fingers for my little ones.

well, 8 out of 15 hatched so far. they have slowly been hatching out since friday, had two come out today. yesterday was their due date. will still give more time for the others.

thanks for the encouragment.
