help! prolapse in my hen, just found it

her butt has been dirty and i went to clean it and found a prolapse, should i wash the area first? give a warm bath? and then put honey on it to help shrink it? and then try and push it back in? can she go out with the others if it does go in or should i try and keep her in a box in the basement for a few days? she seems otherwise healthy and alert and is eating. she's on my lap right now talking softly to me. help!

gently give it a rinse. do not push anything back in. pour a tablespoon or two of reg. white granulated sugar on it. The sugar will shrink it immediately and it will go back in on its own. Monitor daily to see if another application of sugar is needed.

thanks, it seems like it just went back in on its own. wonder if i should keep her in a box in the basement today so she rest, she may be trying to lay a large egg. should i still put a little sugar on in case it comes back?

i have a question, if the hen is egg bound might it be a bad thing to stop the swelling around the vent with sugar, honey or prep h?
