My Houdan pullet is very sick. She hasn't been growing and was getting very light, thin and lethargic with droopy wings so we separated her from the flock a few days ago and brought her inside. She then started having very watery diarrhea. Yesterday we found her in her container on her side, covered in poo. I cleaned her and the container up and offered her scrambled eggs, which she quickly ate. Her diarrhea continued during the day. Nothing but water and it really STINKS. I picked up some medicated chick starter and probiotics for her water. She which she also ate and drank last night. This morning, I found her again on her side covered in stinky waterpoo, yellow in color. Honestly, I thought she was dead but when the light was turned on she started peeping and moving. I turned her so her head was next to the water and to my surprise she righted herself, started drinking then got up and started eating with gusto. When I left her this morning she was shuffling around the container and pecking at the feed but I'm betting she'll be dead when I get home. I have no idea what I'm dealing with. We treated for worms a few weeks ago and I haven't seen anything which looks wormish in her stool, which again is just very smelly yellow water and not much else.
I've a few other pullets which are also light weight and very thin (the breastbone is very apparent). I'm worried they will go down the same road. We lost two others last month, one through unknown reasons (looked like her neck was broken) and another which had similar symptoms which is why we did the worming. Last night we started giving the whole flock the probiotics as a preventative measure. I pulled the other lightweights and am feeding them the medicated chick feed so see if that helps.
Has anyone else had this problem? Suggestions? I really don't want to lose my other girls.
