Agree!I wouldn't buy anymore chicks from them, but I'm not nice when things like that happen. One male I could understand but 2 out of 6 chicks is a bit too much. Good luck...
x2, I would’ve had an earful for that breeder.but I'm not nice when things like that happen.
I’m completely new to this chicken thing so I’m rolling with the punches. However, I was not very kind about the 2/6 rooster ratio to what was being sold as pullets. It’s not even like someone picked up a chick and put it back in the wrong place. There were no straight run brooder.x2, I would’ve had an earful for that breeder.
I agree that hatchery RIRs and Production Reds are known for being nasty. I would also keep the Wyandotte for that reason. I will add however, that true, heritage RIR from breeders are greatKeep The Silver Laced Wyandotte boy!
Rhode Island Reds are known for being kind of aggressive ( others might have nice RIR Roos, but they are rare. )
Also, if you are planning on hatching chicks the silver boy is the way to go, I have a silver laced English Roo, and his chicks are really beautiful.
One with red comb is a cockerelI am brand new to raising chickens. I was sold these as pullets, but since they are so different from each other, I’m wondering. These are 7 week old speckled Sussex. What do y’all think? 1st 2 pics are same chicken.
Thank you for your help. Since the hatchery and or store are not to be trustedI agree that hatchery RIRs and Production Reds are known for being nasty. I would also keep the Wyandotte for that reason. I will add however, that true, heritage RIR from breeders are greatNot known for being aggressive like the hatchery ones! Just wanted to get some good word out there for the real RIRs!
The first bird is a cockerel. The second a pullet.I am brand new to raising chickens. I was sold these as pullets, but since they are so different from each other, I’m wondering. These are 7 week old speckled Sussex. What do y’all think? 1st 2 pics are same chicken.
I’m assuming your white leghorns lay white eggs? I’d love some variety in egg coloring. Probably will add Easter eggers and something with white eggs next year. Some do mature faster than others. Here is a White Leghorn chick at around 8 weeks old.
