I’m potentially buying this nine week old chicken from someone and they are selling it as an Americana pullet. But the hackles look kind of big and pointed to me. Should I be concerned that this might be a rooster?

That’s a pullet but not an Ameraucana. Note how they (and a lot of hatcheries etc.) spelled it differently. That is an Easter Egger. Which are AWESOME birds and I LOVED mine but definitely not the same lol

I think the coloring of her hackle feathers is emphasizing the pointiness. Pullets have pointy hackle feathers, too, just less pointy/wispy than roosters. Hers look like pullet hackle feathers to me.

The easier tell for feathers is the saddle feathers--hers are nice and rounded. At 9 weeks a cockerel would generally have started to develop thin, pointy, iridescent saddle feathers.

Americana just means mixed-breed (Ameraucana is a recognized breed that lays blue eggs). Unless they have a careful breeding program that monitors the roosters/hens being used, its eggs could end up being any color. If you don't mind that, feel free to get her!

I agree with the previous poster that the coloring/legs look a lot like a Buff Brahma.
