Help!! Pullets sick!!! Bloody droppings...Sulmet isn't working!!

If they don't have Wazine 17 as labeled, look for "piperazine 17%" liquid - it's the same thing, but some places have a different brand.

If you can't find it, you could try the fenbendazole (Safe-guard) but it's the only one of the stronger meds that I'd ever even consider giving. Still try for Wazine though - it's more safe.

Good luck! Let us know if you find it!

Okay, I found it!!! yay!! I got the Wazine 17% and Ivermectin paste 1.87% apple flavored. The lady at the co-op acted like I had lost my mind when I asked for Ivermectin for chickens. She said that it was for horses. I bought it anyway. I am going to start with the Wazine in the morning and see how it goes. Crossing my fingers...I only have 5 small pullets, they are like 15 weeks old. So, should I still medicate with the Wazine as directed? They dont drink much, like less than 1/4 gallon a day.

A photo of the birds and one of the poo-piles would be very helpful. I've seen poo that looks like it has worms, but it doesn't. Not that that isn't what it is, but it would be good to see photos to confirm...
Amprol liquid (Corrid/Amprolium) is easier on their system and works really well against cocci, if that's what it turns out to be. Depending on how old they are, Sulmet can be really harsh. Best to get them on wire so they're not mucking around in their poo, and give clean bedding, water, and food. There's more to it, but photos would really help.

----UPDATE---

Ok, yesterday I stopped the Sulmet and just gave them regular water. Today I started the Wazine, but I didnt see any worms or blood this morning!!! It is just very loose stool in green, yellow, and a blackish color. I gave them the Wazine anyway just in case. I cant get a pic to upload right now, my internet connection is too slow.
So what to do? I am at my wits end here!!

How long did you use the sulmet? Did you use any probiotics along with it? (Yogurt, acidophilis capsules, etc.) I would definitely use probiotics for a week after this. Sulmet is an antibiotic and requires probiotic after-treatment to clear up diarrhea. I'd also feed the yogurt with some crumbles and cooked oatmeal to hopefully sooth their gut and firm up the droppings. If the problem is bacterial, Sulmet should have been used for five days - but the wazine today is fine.

The worms - could you describe them incidentally? Were they a bit like spaghetti bits? NOt flat like fettucini?

The majority of the diet should still be their free choice crumbles. Incidentally, did we cover what type of ground she's on, etc? Is the ground there soil or sand? Or bedding? What type of bedding? What's her diet at the moment (before this illness)?

The blood and worms are back. The worms are like clear..they almost look like tiny jellyfish legs or like the silver skin off of a deer. But they are REALLY small. Thats the only way that I can think describe them. They are not flat and they dont move or anything. I used the sulmet for a long time. From July 12 to like the 26th. They are about 15 weeks old or so. So they are still on Starter/Grower. They are on bare ground covered with hay. They are acting alright but we've had major storms the past couple of days so i'm scared they might be a bit stressed out.

Sulmet is REALLY hard on their systems... I would discontinue the use. If the "worms" are not moving, then I don't think they're worms. It could still be cocci, and if so, the Amprolium liquid (Amprol/Corrid) is the way to go.
