Help! Reddish poop!

Lol It could be worse... We have some wild chukars out here and all of a sudden I started finding bright purple droppings everywhere. It was really odd till I figured out it was a tree that had these purple berries that they were eating all the time.

I'm sure they're fine. The medicated feed is precisely to prevent coccidiosis, so take that out of the equation.
I can't speak for other brands but at least they one they sell at Agway gave my chicks red and runny poop, and it stunk to high heaven.

When they got over 8 or 9 weeks old, I switched them to the grower feed and now they have nicely shaped poop, does not stink and is not reddish. They are free range too, so they take in a fair share of bugs and grass..

OK, no I've not told anyone, even my husband, that I was worried about the reddish poo. So, fortunately, as for the advice about not telling the non-chicken folks, forget about it! No one knows but me and BYC!

Thanks for the link to the poo pictures...it really was helpful because the poo I saw with mine looked nothing like the cocci poo on that site. I was especially disturbed by the person holding the poo with maggots in his/her BARE HANDS!

Now see, all of you are dying to go look.

LOL, I also thought that person was way more "rural" than I am, NO WAY would I ever holding poop with maggots in it!!!!

lol, you're such a mom! i too have spent a fair share of my time tripping out over banal details of my babie's lives.
that sort of care will one day save a chicken, for sure.

that's what you need, it's the first google result if you search chicken poop chart, just in case you ever lose it.

As gross as this might seem to some, this link was great for easing this "new mommy's" mind! Thanks!
