Hey everyone I have an Olive Egger pullet that somehow hurt herself. She’s still in a Rubbermaid tote in the garage so how she injured it I’m unsure. She won’t put weight on her left leg. Does not appear to be in pain, she doesn’t act differently when I’m moving and checking along the joints. It’s not dislocated. No bumble foot that I can see. I’m thinking it’s a ligament issue as her lower half of the leg seems almost floppy below the knee joint; Tib/Fib. Her toes are flat. They don’t even grasp around my fingers. I’d like to make some sort of splint but is that even helpful or what am I looking at long term prognosis? I appreciate any help or feedback.

Can you post some pictures?

I don't have any advice, so I hope someone will see this thread and pictures would help show what you're dealing with.

I have had two hens that had injured their legs in the last few months. I have no idea how they got injured. The first one was a pullet, I noticed she was limping and when I looked at her leg, I could not figure out what was wrong. She spent a long time sitting and I made sure she was near food and water and at night I helped her get in the coop and took her out in the mornings. After a couple of months she was walking fine. My second hen had the same problem, and we did the same thing. If the injure is not so bad, it will heal itself. It might be a torned ligament.

Well I sure hope that ends up being the case with her. I hate to see her not do well or be picked up for her injury. I guess time will tell. Thanks so much for your feedback. I appreciate it.
