A week ago, I went on a holiday and had a friend look after my birds and pets. I came back and found 2 lovely eggs in my ringneck nesting box. I left them in peace as the mommy kept going back in there after I left.
Its been another week now, and this morning I found another egg was laid. there are 3 now. They were really warm as the hen has been sitting, but how long will it take? another week? I haven't seen them mate but I think they did when I was away on holiday.
Any help about caring for the chicks ( I want to hand tame 1 ) and breeding please let me know!

I've never had a parrot but I have hand raised baby zebra finches before. You might have to take it and hand raise it yourself for it to be tame because leaving it in the nest makes zebra finches will ( but it's probably different for parrots). I like to use Kaytee Exact hand feeding formula to feed the babies.

thank you :) I will hope to get some babies soon.

meanwhile ill get some of that kaytee mix from the parrot place store.

Also where on earth do I keep the baby I want to hand tame? I cant just leave it in a cage... it will heart its feet no?

thanks for the help.

When I feed Kaytee Exact to finches I first heat some water up, get a small bowl, and a another bowl slightly bigger to fit on the bottom. When the hot water is ready I pour a little bit in the smallest bowl and add the Kaytee Exact mix in ( when they are a few days old I make the mixture more watery slowly by slowly it gets denser) Then pour the hot water in the bigger bowl and put the smaller bowl on top to float on top. You should test the water with your finger and wait for it to turn warm ( because hot water can burn their crops and cold water can lead to candida yeast infection, both leading to death) then bring the baby over and start feeding.

You don't want to feed too much formula or else the chick's crop could explode, it's hard for the first time raising your first chick to know how much to feed so here is a picture.

I usually let the babies decide when it's full, they will start acting drowsy and stop swaying their heads that much.
They will need an incubator and proper temperature and humidity (though I'm not sure about how high it should be for a parrot). Good luck in hatching and raising your chick!

Thank you :) Adorable babies... I have 2 options:

1. I want to let mum and dad parrots raise the chicks until they are old enough to leave the nest. Do you know at what age this is?
anyways... once they r out of the nest ill get one f them and feed it bird seeds trying to hand tame it.

2. I can let mum and dad feed them until they are around 3 weeks old, then ill take 1 out of the nest box and get my parrot expert friend to teach my hand feeding and raising them.

thanks for the help!

I read on the internet that they leave the best around 7 weeks, I think that option two might be the best for getting an already tame bird. Option 1 turns the babies into parrots at the petstore you'll have to work with them a bit.
