Corid and VetRx??

We just got a batch of new chicks six or so weeks ago! However, one, an Australorp, is showing signs of Coccidiosis. I keep hearing that Corid can help cure cocci, but we only have VetRx on hand at the moment. Can VetRx fix cocci, or do we have to get corid? And if so, are there cheaper alternatives at Tractor Supply?

Her symptoms are Lethargy and watery poop. When we first noticed the problem, there was blood in the stool as well, but it seems like there isn't anymore. She eats just fine, she's just puffed out and looks like she's falling asleep standing up.

No, VetRX will not treat cocci. Corid and Albon are two coccidiostats. Albon needs a prescription though.

The poop shown doesn't indicate anything. The symptoms you describe do sound like possible coccidiosis overload, so yes Corid is what you'd want. It is not a medication, it's a thiamine inhibitor. Make sure to give the full course of treatment (dilution and duration here https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...ol-ampromed-the-correct-amprolium-dose.73341/) and discontinue use of any vitamin additives (if any) during treatment. I would treat the entire flock.

Never used it myself... just looking at the bottle it reads like a cure-all, mostly contains herb oils. I've never had a bird with any of the listed problems it claims to treat, so wouldn't have had a reason to test it out. Definitely wouldn't treat coccidiosis though.

VetRX will not do anything for coccidiosis. I have used it quite a lot for helping chickens with facial and respiratory inflammation due to stuff being up the nose that shouldn’t be. It’s very, very good for helping chickens expel stuff that’s gotten pushed up past the nares and for stopping sneezing fits due to getting into particulate irritants, but beyond that it won’t do much.
