I have 4 hens and one rooster that are bantams and free range during the day and
come home to be locked up safely at night. They are 6 months old.

My rooster and one of my hens are missing and they are not responding to my calls and I can;t find them. I have 4 acres of brush. I am thinking she is sitting on egg and he is guarding her.

I am afraid to leave them out of the pen because they might get killed.

What should I do?

Bantams are extraordinary at hiding themselves at night, and also good at escaping predators. Some just decide to perch out in trees at night, and once it is dark they can't see well enough to come when called. I know it is hard to wait, but come morning they should be ready to eat, waiting at the door.

I hope they are okay! Best of luck!

Thanks for the encouragement. I have been worried all night

Well it is morning and no rooster crowing and no hen either.

I let my other 3 hens out and they seem kind of lost
Are they going to be OK out there without the rooster watching over them

Thanks

Cindy
