I have a 3 month old Buff Orpington rooster along with my flock that is the same age. He started crowing about a week ago! Its sounds horrible!! lol. The problem is now is that he thinks hes the boss and he goes around trying to mate with the other pullets. Is this bad since they are so young?

Thanks, Grant

For some reason, the roo-boys are ready for action a long time before the pullets are receptive. They'll protest loudly and pathetically, but unless he's actually causing injury, there shouldn't be a problem. His claws & spurs probably aren't long or sharp enough to hurt their backs, he shouldn't be pulling out feathers from their necks. His crowing should improve over time, along with the receptivity of the pullets. When you notice them being more compliant, you'll know they're getting ready to lay.

Where in Florida are you & your flock?
