Hi,
I just got my first turkeys on Thursday. They are Narragansett turkeys. I ordered 15 and have had 2 die already. One died on its way here- no idea why. I guess maybe it was trampled on. The second one, I think got walked on by the others and broke its neck. Now I have one runt who is looking very drowsy, and not walking straight. It is around half the size of the others. Its drinking water but i can't get it to eat. Can i feed it anything in liquid form? broth? help, I don't know how to save it! thank you!

My father always started his turkeys on scrambled egg and mixed it with some type of weeds that would be growing in the field that he called pepper weed. Maybe a little scrambled egg would help to get him/her to eat.
Hopefully someone with more turkey experience will chime in.

and I hope your turkey makes it ok.

Sadly, he did not make it. The remaining birds do look stronger, but I think I will pick up some vitamins tomorrow. I've never had this trouble with chickens, I hope the rest will be ok...

I wonder if there is some sort of genetic thing, I got 6 poults and 1 was a runt. It is still alive, 2 weeks on a heating pad but it is less then half the size of the others and very few feathers while the others are feathered out.

day olds live three days on the yolk then die, or live if they eat and drink! check butts for poop plugs watch for belly botton cord, you pull that off they bleed to death, take spounge with warm warter hold agianst rear clean vent all shiney and pink! if they chill they die,if they don't eat they die, and if they don't poop they die (see clean butt) turkeys are easy to raise, yea right!! tom!!
