Oh boy - this is really what I was hoping to hear

My DH sees how worried I am and has just offered to go to Home Depot tomorrow to look for a small generator to buy. This would be ideal! If not, I'll probably try the brick thing as we will not have any vehicles here to use our inverter.

Thank you all so much! I'm such a nervous new chickie mommy

OK - made it through the first day. The power went out at 7:30am and was out until 1:00pm! I was near tears the whole day at school (my job) where the power was also out. We were very cold and the colder we got the more I would worry about my babies. The minute the power went out I covered the brooder with a blanket to trap in the warm air and they started cheeping so loud and fast! I was a mess as I had to leave for work. Well I got home at 3:10 and went straight to them. They were milling around and playing like nothing had happened. This will make tomorrows planned outage much easier to to take (mentally) for me and SHOULD be in the afternoon when it is warmer out so easier for the girls too

Thanks all for our suggestions and thank goodness I have some hardy little chickies!
