I got some chicks at our local Agway last week...they're 2 weeks old tomorrow (Monday). We've noticed a huge difference in the 3 buff orpington's....2 are developing tail feathers an wing feathers very nicely, but one is REALLY slow...we're thinking roo? No tail feathers and the wings are half the size of the other 2 and rather "square" or blocky looking. Here are some pics to compare... the slow developing one is much fatter then the other two as well....any thoughts?

Also, I've got two Barred Rocks that look different...one is very "bright" in it's barring and the other one seems a little duller. Again, does anyone have any idea if one is a roo? or are they both pullets.....? Thanks for any help guys!!

they're way too young to say. I'd advise not to obsess over little things like tail feathers, behavior, etc at this point and just enjoy your chicks. They'll pretty much tell you by 6-8 weeks if any are male.

No worries, I'm not one to obsess

I was just curious what others thought since I've seen other threads here from people posting pics from day old chicks to try to sex them. Some of my chicks seem to have some noticeable differences, so I wasn't sure if that meant anything. I don't have any pics of combs or anything, but right now all of the combs seem the same size/color as each other. I figure in another few weeks, if there is a roo I'll be able to tell for sure....I was just trying to get a jump on it - lol.
