So after 2 unsuccessful (and very sad) attempts at incubating eggs, I was kindly given two 2 day old buff Orpington chicks . Hand raised and both very friendly. When they were little they would snuggle on my shoulder underneath my hair and go to sleep! Now 7 weeks old. However I think one may be a rooster, and I am not able to keep him in the town where I live. He (she?) was slower to grow feathers especially on its back, and has a bigger and redder comb than the other one. It also has 2 very long wing feathers you can see well in one of the photos. Is this normal? Bosses the other one around too! Fortunately I do have a good home for him on a farm if he is a roo, just needing advice from those with more experience , thank you so much. Planning on getting 2 more pullets to replace him if so. Have included photo of the one I think is a girl for comparison
