Hens can also have beards. I currently have 4 bearded hens.The beard can be an identifier too, but often times doesn't show up until much later (closer to butchering time for those BBW's). Only males have a beard (A tassel of dark fibrous hairs that hangs from their chest).

Bearded hens are common enough in the wild that states that have wild turkey hunting spring seasons allow the taking of hens with beards even though the spring seasons are meant for the taking of males only.

There was a recent thread where a member was posting pics of his Broad Breasted Whites. One had a good beard, one had a small beard but both were hens.
