Hi, I have a hen that is approximately five months. I noticed her two days ago slumping down lethargic knew something was wrong so I quarantine her. I have given her some probiotics and lecture in the water feeding her couple times with soft boiled eggs and oatmeal. She will eat it but very little, she will drink that very little, she pants all day with her mouth open. She will get up and walk, but prefers to lay exactly how you see in the picture. I just treated all my hands yesterday, including her and then treated her with some drops of Ivermectin. Not sure what else to do not sure what is wrong I’ve included a picture of her poop for the last three days

Is her beak open most of the time, and does she seem to be gasping or having problems breathing. Have any other chickens had a respiratory infection in the past? Green poop like that is from not eating. Is she having any problems walking or getting around? Can you feel of her crop, and tell us if it is empty, full, firm, or puffy? Is she usually on a balanced chicken feed? Do you provide poultry grit for her? Has she ever laid an egg? Could she have been kept from eating by other chickens or a rooster?

I cannot feel any crop with anything in it. Her gizzard seems to have a protruding bump on it. I felt my other hand to see what they felt like I don’t think any other food is going into her crop. I think it might be getting stuck somewhere along the way.

No, I haven’t had any respiratory illnesses with my other chickens. She is eating poultry feed mixed with grit and oyster shells up until this point I would see her eating with the other chickens since she’s been quarantined. She still isn’t eating or crop is empty when I feel her throat, it just seems like there is something sticking out of it, like it doesn’t go straight it’s almost like an apple but I can’t tell if it’s blocked

She is not gasping. She just has her mouth open
last night. I used the dropper with tomato juice and Epson salt but only could get a fourth of a cup down here, but it hasn’t seem to help at all.

Here is a diagram that shows the crop and gizzard. It is possible that she has nothing in her crop if she has not been eating. That would cause the deep green poop. Can you answer more of the questions I posted in post 2? It can be hard to guess what may be happening, but with more info we might be able to help.

I do not believe she has laid an egg yet. I do not hear any wheezing she lays right next to the water bowl and will drink but that’s the only energy she has.

I think the bulge I feel and her neck is actually just her bones as she is so thin I can fill her breast bone as well. I have her in a cage next to the rest of the flock with some mashed up food and water, hoping I can get her to eat
