It is still peeping, and has its beak sticking out, but can't seem to move. I hate to lose it.
One chick that pipped at the same time this morning is now out and fine.
These are under a hen. Can I moisten the encased chick? It is not real warm tonight, but this hen, an Orpington, just flattens herself out and covers them pretty well. I just don't know if that would be more helpful or more harmful.

Aww i am sorry it sounds like shes shrink wrapped, i would take the egg round home, damp some warm water on the membrane and carefully peal away, if you see some blood stop and damp it with wet kitchen roll till it stops and put it back under mum for an hour till that vein has dried up. If you manage to get the membrane off and theres some egg yolk still there you can always leave the bottom of the shell on it. good luck hun and keep us posted.
