I just recieved my eggs that i ordered. The carton had a yellowish liquid in it. Not sure what that was, but the eggs were damp and had a white powdery mildew on them. I wiped the mildew off with a damp towel and sat them to dry. They are dry now and the mildew appears to be gone, but i'm afraid the mildew has possibly clogged the pores. Can i incubate these eggs. Has anyone ever had this happen to them before?

Thanks for any help you may be able to give me. Natalie

OH, by the way i have just sent the sender an e-mail about this.

Hi i am a stay at home mother of 2. I have a wonderful husband and blessed life.

A yellowish liquid? Were their any eggs broken?

Gosh, I'm dumbfounded. I wouldn't personally incubate these, because whatever the mildew is and the fact that you rubbed it off could have caused it to be pushed into the eggs (not that you really had any choice in wiping them!!)....I would think this could cause malformations in the embryos...

That's what i was thinking. The guy wants pics and i didn't take any. I was to concerned about getting them cleaned that i didn't even think about it until it was to late.

I received eggs that were individually and completely *sealed* in bubble wrap once - under the bubble wrap, the eggs were wrapped in damp paper towel. The eggs were wet and sorta greyish, and although I didn't SEE any actual mold or mildew, they SMELLED musty. Plus, they were shipped late, and by the time they got to me, they were old as dirt - AND the package wasn't marked properly and my mail carrier left them baking in the sun by my back gate. Needless to say, I was highly upset!

I just KNEW there was NO WAY anything would hatch from these eggs, but I rinsed them off and incubated them anyway. Much to my surprise, out of 12 eggs, I got 8 healthy chicks that hatched perfectly on Day 18.
