Help!!! Should I assist this chick?

I should of posted when I seen this last night. I was just so tired. I did ask on my thread if anyone was able to come help. It was ready to to hatch then. It was a malpo chick. the membrane dried up and the oil was the trick and now it will probably need a shoe on those curled toes. The green was first poop. Congrats on getting him out and when he is stronger tomorrow and up maybe a warm rinse to get the oil off so he can fluff up would be good . At that time you can see if he needs the shoe too. In the mean time I would offer him some nutra drench or gatoraid or @casportpony ? Whats it called ?? LOL

Put a boot on the foot with the curled toes. Take a bandaid, set the chick's foot on one of the sticky sides of the bandaid. Straighten it's toes into the correct position. Fold the other sticky side on top, and gently press in between the toes, so it sticks. Carefully trim the non sticky part away, and any excess.

Glad she is doing better. Do be very careful rinsing her because it is very easy to chill them, and when they are weak it can actually kill them. Is she were mine to would not get her wet.

I am SO excited. Took off most of the dried up membrane, gave her a few hair dryer sessions (which she loved), and removed all the poop (her vent looks clean and healthy). She is now able to stand on her own! I set her back in the incubator and she’s walking around...one of her feet has her toes curled under (it’s the foot that was not outstretched so she’s probably not used to using it). I’m trying to not get my hopes up but things look really good for her. Regardless of the outcome, thank you all so much for the advice. I have been so anxious and stressed regarding this baby and knowing there was a supportive community made a world of difference! Will keep you updated!
That's great..I only suggested warm wet towel ..in case it's a dry shell ..and warm so she's not cold..great job ..glad to hear baby is ok

Wow good to know thanks for the tip..

She went through a lot of stress and handling last night so I let her be for the most part today. I figured if she has some membrane stuck to her feathers, that’s fine as long as she retains her strength. She’s drinking water and I gave her a bit of chick starter feed and she dipped her beak in. She’s been very vocal, and the feathers on her butt and on one of her wings are fluffing up nicely. Her head and neck still looks really disheveled but I was just going to give her a bit of rest before I went in and tried to get more off. She’s stretching her wings out, walking (kind of drunkenly though), and spending some time cleaning herself. Overall I’m hopeful! She also had a healthy looking bowel movement today.

I’m still keeping her in the incubator...I removed the old lining and replaced it with fresh clean lining.

Thank you again so much everyone! I look forward to posting more progress pics!!
