Help!!! Should I paint, stain, seal or leave the boards untreated in my chicken run.

I have pressure treated boards on the base then the rest of it is built with standard 2x4s....

We will be putting up hardware cloth and don't know if we need to do something to the wood first or if we should just let the wood be natural. It's NOT cedar...
 
You could stain it or treat it if you would like, without it it'll go grey but it will take a long time to rot... so i wouldn't worry about it, I leave mine natural.

Well, we decided to stain it.... Guess it will be good practice for when the deck needs it.

Good job, I missed the first discussion but my husbands a journey man carpenter and he'd say " no untreated wood should be in the elements " painting or staining it will make it always last longer and is worth the money . I love your coop

thanks. It took a lot of time but I am very happy with it
