I have no clue what to do. I have 8 baby chick's that are around 3 weeks old. Today I noticed one that was off in the corner by itself. I picked it up and it went kind of limp in my hand. I laid it back down and it did get up and walk but very slowly away. I see no injurys on it or anything like that. Also I see that with each breath it takes it's tail feathers are moving. it was fine lastnight and today it just wants to sleep. I know something is really wrong but I am new at this chicken thing and have no clue what is going on. There feed is medicated chick food. not sure if that matters but I am lost as to what could be wrong or what to do. please help me.

I don't know what it could be but you might want to seperate the sick chick from the others if possible. It being sick could not only spread it but the other chicks are more likely to pick on it just making it stress more

Fill an eye dropper with sugar water (make it nice and sweet!) and feed it to the chick by dropping it on top of it's beak if you have to. Even if it refuses to drink, just drip it on the beak. Eventually, it will get some in it's mouth and after that will start to drink from the dropper. Give a good dose, don't be shy! This will usually get them up and running and give them the energy to eat and drink their way back to health.

Hope that helps.

ok so I went out and did a little sugar water and then I noticed his chest looked swollen. I felt it and it feels like he has air trapped under the skin on his chest. could he have a punchered lung? My daughter was holding it and she felt to see if it felt like air to her also and then a bubble came out of the chicks mouth. I am so lost as to what to do next.

i'm so sorry for your loss.

Sometimes it just happens and theres nothing you can do to prevent. I hope your other chicks stay healthy.
