Help Sick Chick with bloated breast area

I have a chick that died yesterday with a bloated upper belly today I have another one with the bloated belly part. she is eating and drinking fine and was outside today. She is drinking lots of water and after sorta has a turett syptoms not sure and then just settles done I have her inside tonight so will see. every so often a liquid come out of her mouth like vomit not much any ideas or what should i do>

Sounds like "sour crop" - search that term on this board and you will find tons of stuff. I'm dealing with it right now. It could be "sour" or it could be "impacted".

Try isolating her and feeding her water with a little Apple Cider Vinegar in it - about 2 Tablespoons per gallon - not much. Give that as her only water source.

I've been trying all sorts of other things, massaging the crop downward, olive oil, and mine is still having problems. I'm almost at the point of surgery, but I'm hoping to not have to go there...

When you say "bloated upper belly" and "bloated belly" do you mean the crop? The crop is the area on their upper right breast where food and water is stored till it is processed at night into the gizzard. Or do you mean the belly - under the chicken, between its legs?

A full crop is normal after a day of eating and drinking and they can expel some water out of their mouth if you pick them up when the crop is full, especially if you picked them up around their breast area so that the crop was touched.

How old are your chicks and what are you feeding them? Do they also have access to grit?

what bedding are you using?
could they be eating the bedding?
check the crops..should feel full after eating..
after a couple hours should feel smaller..feel for a lump or grainy feeling..or any sour odor.
describe the droppings..color and consistency.

also please describe in more detail exactly where the bloating is..tho it does sound like the crop.

you mentioned they were outside? to eat things like grass, leaves, insects, etc. they need to have GRANITE GRIT. this is the only way they can grind up their food, since they don't have teeth. the food wil get stuck in the crop if it cannot be ground up.

please get some granite grit (only granite since it is insoluble) and mix it in with their feed. give them a small bowl of it for free choice too.
