I have a 4 week old Jersey Giant chick that is tucking her head under completely. Every once in a while she convulses slightly, so that it looks as though she is pecking at her chest or foot. Her head is actually to the side though, or between her legs. She sometimes has it so far tucked under that she loses her balance and rolls over herself and lands on her back and then side.

I have been giving all of my chicks vitamins in their water since 1 day old, so I know that it is not a vitamin deficiency. She will cheep if we touch her and does not seem to want to stand on her legs. She keeps her eyes closed for the most part, but when she does open them, they seem bright and normal. We have an antibiotic in her water now, as well as in the water of the 14 other chicks that we have. We have separated the sick chick from the others.

I think that it might be too late for this one, we really can't afford a vet or fancy meds for a $3 chick. I just want to know what I can do to prevent the other 14 from getting what she got.

We feed them medicated chick feed, and sometimes treats like tiny pieces of grass, scrambled eggs, small pieces of bread and flies that we swat and kill. I'm puzzled. She almost acts epileptic. Do you sometime just end up with a bum chick?

Thank you in advance.
