I don't know if my chicken is egg bound or what is wrong. She was fine yesterday but would not get off the roost today. When I lifted her off the roost, she could not walk. She has a smushy underside that is bulging. Any help would be appreciated.

Edited to say when we rub her stomach towards her runt, some whitish/yellowish poop comes out. She also has some stuck to her feathers below the runt area.

Update: She has expelled some yellow stuff from her vent and pooped (liquid brown) some but still is not eating or drinking. I've got a heating pad under a towel that she is laying on but she is very very weak at this point.

Your description sounds as though an egg may have burst before coming out... keep her separated from the rest.
A five minute soak in a warm bath ( just enuf to cover the vent) and then to nest on a clean warm towel afterwards in a dark quiet place (like the bathroom or such)... there might be another egg following soon. On some occasions they will get a kind of toxemia from the burst egg and there is little you can do on your own to prevent that. Keep her quiet and calm and hope that any backed up eggs (if there are any) will come out soon.
I can give you no other help as your info is too scarce (age housing conditions, weather, breed, feed regime etc.)

Thank you for your reply. That is what I thought it may be but have never come across this before. She is a one-year old red sex-link. I live in Southern Indiana so the weather is mild at this time of the year; although a bit rainy. They have access to a very large run, part of which is roofed and part not. I have 5 layers and since they don't all lay everyday, I have no clue as to who is laying and who is not.

I have brought her in the house, oiled the vent area, did a warm bath, and am now just waiting. She is very lethargic, not drinking or eating at this point. Her comb looks like it is decreasing in size. The area where her stomach is bulging has turned a purplish color. I would take a picture but I loaned my camera out yesterday.

Edited to add: They are on layer feed in their coop but have access to grower feed as well as we are trying to integrate teenage chicks to flock. Oyster shell is available for them.
