So ive been opening the garage even when its cold. I took him to the vet and his lungs were clear but tgey gave him a multispectrum antibiotic because he was breathing raspy. Its been two weeks and hes still intermittently bresthing raspy from his nose, almost sounds like he has athsma. Hes eating good and always gets up when im around, acting pretty normal but maybe sitting down a bit more. Should i take himback to the vet? I have been adding acv to his water occaissionally too. Ahhh i just don want him to suddenly die!

How many days did you give him the antibiotic? and is he washing his head good [dunking his head] I'd go ahead and use the ACV in his water daily till you notice him not breathing raspy. and Calling the vet and letting them know he is still having some trouble might be a good idea, maybe they need to keep him on the antibiotic a little longer. How about appetite?He needs to be on a probiotic anytime after one has been on antibiotics because they kill good and bad bacteria.

Thanks. What should i give him for a probiotic? Hes been on the antibiotic for almost two weeks now and im almost out. He seems to be funking his head pretty well. The water gets dirty with his food pretty quick but im switching it out three times a day

That is good you are keeping fresh water on hand. I offer Sav-A-Chick in water, technically vitamins, not necessarily probiotics, but that's what I do! Did you say what materials you are using for bedding? You might have your birds in another area, then sprinkle in some Stall Dry (horse Dep't at TSC) and sort of rake that powder in a bit. That's what I do for my straw. Might help a bit.

Probiotics put back in the good bacteria that the antibiotics kill along with the bad. think Yogurt but most water fowl don't care for yogurt so you can get powdered probiotics at some feed stores and TSC.

Ducks can have reactions to things in their environment, like HollyDuckFarmer mentioned. Sometimes it's mold in the bedding, or feed, sometimes it's fumes, or dust. Each duck is an individual and may be more sensitive than other ducks. Fünf does not do as well in the cold as the other ducks, and Romy is a little snow queen. But Fünf doesn't have soft shelled eggs and Romy tends to have trouble wrapping her eggs in a thick shell.

I switched the bedding to straw as suggested by the vet (was previously pine shavings) and i switch it out every two days. The vet put him on another antibiotic (penicillin) but nothing seems to be helping. Maybe he is just more sensitive to dudt or something??? Like i said earlier, hes eating and drinking and acting pretty normal. And the vet listened to his lungs and said they sounded great. I would think that if it was a bacterial or aspergillosis hed be getting worse???

I did buy some probiotics online and started those as well

Maybe he is chemically sensitive, or like you said, sensitive to dust. sigh.
