Help! Sick pekin duck

Okay, I have her in the bathroom with towels and water, food, and a heatlamp...I have been talking to her and petting her a lot. She is holding her wings out from her body but that may be because she is having a hard time keeping her balance...She is trying to walk around a lot which I guess is good..but its sad because she keeps falling

I am guessing she may have water in her ears, throwing her off balance. Just a guess, there could be some other problem going on here, so I hope if someone else has some insight they will share it. The head shaking could be to get some water out of her throat. I hope she did not inhale any water. Glad to read she is up and around, even if she is unsteady.

Meanwhile, just be sure she cannot burn herself on the heat lamp, and I need to go now, but sending prayers for both of you . . . . for all of you.

Amiga gave you the best advice I could possibly think of. With her being so cold keeping her warm is a must right now along with trying to get some vitamins into her.

Thank you so much Amiga. I don't have any electrolytes, but tomorrow I will look for some..does anyone know if I can just get them at any farm feed store? She seems to have a bit of a whistle in her breathing but only slight..if it gets worse, or if she isn't any more stable with her balance tomorrow I will look for a vet that takes ducks.

Yes you usually can. If not you can always get powdered gatorade WITHOUT Iron.

I have bottled gatorade...but its flavoured, will that be bad for her? She is breathing pretty fast right now still very alert though

Does it list iron in the Nutritional Value section? If it doesn't I think it would be okay just for tonight. Being alert is defiantly a good sign.

No it doesnt say Iron, so I put a bit in her water...She is just flopped down with her legs behind her straight out It almost looks like she is trying to swim on land...this worries me because she was just walking around (falling a lot) a little while ago.. could she just be exhausted?

From all of today's events she very well could have exhausted her body.
