Help, Sick Rooster

Something isn't right with my White Leghorn rooster, he is not acting like normal. He is lethargic and his poop is basically yellow-tinted water with a bit of solid green stuff. Yesterday he ate 3 pieces of crumbled wet bread, today he didn't even eat half. How worried should I be? We have raised him since he was an egg and we do not want to lose him.

How old is he? How does his crop feel—empty and flat, full, hard, or puffy? Could he be dehydrated from the heat or being kept from the water? Do you have other roosters? Pictures may help. I would try to get him drinking water with electrolytes or a little sugar.

Thank you for the reply! He is about 1 year old. His crop feels slightly empty/flat to me. No I don’t have other roosters but his feathers are a mess. Since our neighbors have complained about the noise he is kept in the shed by himself and let out on the weekends so he is not being kept from the water. He isn’t really eating much, do you have any tips for how I can keep him from starving? Thanks again!

Is it hot where you live right now? Is there good ventilation and light inside the shed during the day time? He could be hot or sick. The yellow in the dropping could be a liver issue or coccidiosis, and the green is from not eating. He might be stressed or too hot. I would try to get some droppings collected in a ziploc bag and try to get them tested for coccidiosis and worms. Are you planning to rehome him since the neighbors are complaining? I would make sure that he is getting a balanced chicken feed, and for a few days, treat him with Poultry NutriDrench 2 ml orally or a similar vitamin with electrolytes to put in his water.

It can get a bit hot in the afternoon but at night and during early morning it can get a bit chilly. Yes there is good light and ventilation but we are not planning to rehome his as he is our pet. Thanks for the advice!

He has not crowed for a few days but we did hear him once this afternoon. Is that a good sign and does it mean he is doing better?

We also noticed this poop that he left. It’s more solid than the ones that happened earlier. Is that a good sign or does that mean something else is wrong because it still doesn’t quite look normal? (Photo below) Sorry it’s not the clearest image.

Being cooped up in the shed alone, he's probably depressed. Have you tried the "no crow" collar if you're not planning on rehoming him. He needs to be with his flock.

Agree with @Eggcessive about the color of his poop, he needs to eat balanced chicken feed (Flock Raiser is good with 20% protein). What do you normally feed him? Try wetting his feed, scramble up an egg and see if he'll eat that. Nutri Drench is strongly recommended.

Thanks for the advice! I don't think he's depressed, he's lived like that for several months without any issues. The hens we have aren't part of his flock, they didn't grow up together or anything because he was hatched last year as an "only chicken". He is doing better now, thanks for all the help!
