Yes, any wormer with praziquantel works. Here is the dosage for most drugs in post 1:

Thanks! I see very very slight improvement in Pauleen my JG hen. Today I got her to eat some greens and a little scrambled egg from my hand. Head still cocked back a bit and still walks a bit gingerly. I have noticed her depth perception is off as well when she tries to get a bit of food. Today makes 6 days of her wry neck. Thanks again for all the help!

Well Pauleen has not gotten better. She seemed to for a bit but now she is seized up quite a lot. It is just short of 2 weeks since vitamin treatment started. She had been eating and drinking but hard to tell as of today. Waterer and feeder had a lot of pine shavings in them. She must have been flailing around in her pen. At what point do you let nature take it`s course or put an end to suffering? I know that`s a tough question, for a tough dilemma .

I'm sorry to hear she's not improving:hugs

Only you can make the call whether or not she's had enough. If a hen is in a lot of pain, suffering, then it may be time to let her go. You are there to access her daily and see what type of quality of life she has.

Thank you, I guess I already knew that. I just needed some validation. This aspect of chicken keeping is really about the only thing that really bothers me. That and trying to help a sick bird that I try my best to help but ends up that I could not help them. I haven`t had to do a mercy culling yet but I will. It seems to me that it is always one of the sweetest birds that I have to let go. Pauleen is no exception the sweetest thing from the day she came in he mail from Meyer Hatchery. It`s been a tough spring I lost two birds earlier this spring to impacted crop that no matter what I tried did not work. Thanks for the help and understanding.

It is sad when they go downhill even with all of our care and best intentions. If you can place her outside with the other chickens inside a wired dog crate so that she could be with them safely, it might give her a boost. But only you would know if she is suffering.

It really is but, I guess if we want to keep chickens that`s the way it is. It sure doesn`t make it easy on a person though. I honestly did not know that they were such special animals until we became chicken keepers a couple of years ago. I have had other pets that did not show as much affection towards me that some of our birds do! It just amazes me! Any way, I actually have had her in a separate caged pen inside the run so she has been able to see her flock mates. I have noticed that after I handle her to administer vitamins that she tends to have more wry neck episodes and have relapses. I think I am going to add them to her feed and give it a few days. To see how she does. Then go from there. Thanks again so much for your help! I really do appreciate it! I just love BYC!

Today I had seen enough. I couldn`t stand to see her suffer any longer. I forgot a little better than a couple weeks ago one of my JG hens came out of the coup down the ramp in a big hurry for some reason and she ran into the side of the run (chicken wire) I bet it was her. She had gotten worse, tremors, loss of balance, falling over. Her depth perception was off, she had trouble getting food. I had a nice last visit with her and even got her to purr for me. Then, I humanely ended her suffering. Then I had to suffer myself for a bit 😢.
