I'm not sure if this is the right topic to post to, but I need some advice

My youngest Silkie hen has gone broody and is sitting on two little eggs !! Is it too early to let her hatch them? We live in NJ and we have a nice and toasty coop, but we are new to the chicken world, so I'm not sure what would be needed for the little chicks to survive. Help!!

Thanks so much!

Congratulations!!

If the coop is warm enough she should be fine hatching them out. You can always move the chicks inside once they hatch if you feel it's too cold outside for them.

If you decide to let them stay with mom, keep an eye on the chicks to make sure they are staying nice and warm. Make sure they have a little bit of water and some food very close by so they don't have to go out into the cold.

Good luck!!
