Help, Sizorbeak on a Child-loved chick!

Hi, I have a one week old barnyard mix chick that is developing sizorbeak. I noticed 5 days ago and it is getting progressively worse. the beak appears to have dammage on the top, and it curves towards the damage. and the bottom part curves the other way. Is there anyway to reset the beak?
Will it starve to death if i don't cull?
Most importantly: What do I tell my 4 year old. This was his pick of the litter.

Can I save it or do i need to Cull it? This photo was taken today, it is 9 days old

Last night we sent the little chick to heaven. she was not growing, and was looking very tired and sick. i guess when the condition starts so young it's hard for her to get enough calories. within a week all the other chicks were double her size, although she spent most of her time trying to eat. In the future i think i would follow the advice of people who say cull imediately, instead of taking a week to try and fix her and really attach myself to the sick chick.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I have one hatched last week with scissor beak getting worse, my kids are going to be heart broken too!

I had a great uncle die far away earlier in the week. I chickened out and told my son he was a chicken expert and i sent the chick to live with him. My son doesn't know the old guy is dead.

Try not to emotionally attach to that chick too much.

I don't blame you. Sounds like a good story. Sorry about the chick.
