Hello all i am in need of some help please.

I have some old english game chicks they are 6 weeks old and they are terribly skinny there very lethargic and they are all bunched up. There is a total of 15 chicks in the brooder five are eleven weeks old and the rest are six weeks old out of the ten six week olds about half of them are skinny and sickly and 2 of the eleven week olds are sickly and skinny. There brooder is in a building away from all of my other flock.

I start all of my chicks on medicated starter as cocci is terrible around my place about 4 weeks into there life i switch them to game bird starter 28% protein all of my other chicks in other brooders are fat and happy and very healthy they are all off the ground in 4x8 brooder with fresh pine shavings weekly fresh feed and water daily i always mix apple cider vinegar and a couple drops of vet rx in there water just for safe measure.

I dont know what to do with them i dont want to lose any of them and im afraid i will if i dont figure something out quick. could they be wormy ? if so are they to young for wazine ?

About a month ago i got a couple chicks from a sale and they were very sickly they actually infected my whole flock of chickens with infectious bronchitis i had to vaccinate every chicken with la-200 which is a miracle drug btw lol and that all cleared right up with no loses.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

and i also dont have a poultry vet near by or i would have done rang there phone :)

Thanks David

have you tried electrolytes? you can also wet their food with water, gatorade, or electrolytes and feed them with a syringe. you can also water them that way.

Ive given them electrolytes in there water two tbsp of sugar mixed in it didn't really help could they have worms or maybe the infectious bronchitis could've gotten to some of them ? Should I start a round of duramycin ?

I'm not familiar with chicken meds... I'm just speaking from experiences I've had with shipped chicks. I do have quite a bit of experience with horses though, and It does sound possible they have worms, so you should try to see what kind of worms they have by searching their condition and then finding the correct wormer to kill them. Be careful not to overdose though!

Also are they eating well? If they are but still losing weight that could be a sign of worms. If they aren't go ahead and make a mash to tube feed them. You can search a how-to here :).
Good Luck

Could be Coccidiosis, chicks on medicated starter feed, can still become overloaded with Coccidiosis. Some symptoms are runny/watery poop(may or may not contain blood)fluffed feathers, lethargic, not eating/drinking properly. If symptoms match, purchase Corid(amprolium) dosage for Corid powder is 1/2 tsp per gallon of water, dosage for Corid liquid is 2 tsp per gallon of water. Treat ALL chicks for 5 days,do not give vitamins during treatment(interferes with medication)give vitamins after treatment.

I'm kinda leaning toward coccidiosis because of how bad it is on my property we have dairy goats and they are also bad about getting it I will start them on corrid tomorrow I will get back to everyone and let everyone know what happens I won't leave ya hanging like most of the other threads lol :)

Thanks a million
David
