I am so sorry to hear about your sad news! I don't know what I'd do if I found a snake had done that damage.
I have found that I simply trust the broody. I have used three different broody hens a couple of times each, and I am always amazed at how they know what to do. Since they should be so close to hatch, any pip holes yet? Have you heard them chirping inside the egg? Have you candled them after the incident for proof of life?
I had an instance where one of my eggs was not ready to hatch, but my broody had the clutch to raise, so she abandoned it. I found the egg alone and cold. I immediately put it in my shirt to warm her up while I problem solved. I made a makeshift incubator with a heating pad, thermometer, sponge, and heat lamp. As I was finishing making it, I heard my chick start to chirp in the egg. I candled her, and she was moving all around. Although I admittedly kept her in my shirt keeping her my body temperature for most of the time, I used the little heat box too. The next day, my perfect little Poppy hatched.
I hope you have a success story too.
