Help Snakes keep trying to get my ducks!

Last year a snake got into my coop and killed one of my ducks, we let the snake go and moved the other duck. We got another duck and put them back in there coop, the only issue is that in two weeks we have had two un-wanted snakes. They are both different snakes. We have tried filling the holes but it won't work! If you have any ideas on how I might be able to fix this please reply

Get a grown peacock, snake traps, kill the snakes, secure everything very well, take out whats attracting the snakes,

About the only thing that will keep a snake out is to totally wrap your run in hardware cloth[wire] half inch top bottom and all the way up the sides. Doing the bottom will keep the snake from coming in under but wire is not good for ducks to walk on so either sand or some type of bedding or smooth stones would have to be put over the wire so they could walk safely Do all openings in their coop also windows etc. It will be an expensive endeavor but your ducks will be safe.

Snake tastes very good. As you have said you caught the previous one I won't go into much detail. Snakes are unable to burrow themselves. Simply hurrying hardware cloth around the base of your run a few inches is enough to stop them. This is mostly to prevent your ducks from making holes a snake can fit through. Also keep the area around your run clear and mowed short. Hawks like snakes and will be attracted by your ducks anyway.

What about snakes that can climb over the buried hardware cloth we have 6' blk snakes here and we actually watched one go up the side of our house onto the roof which is very steep at that time had shingles and almost made it to the top before it slid all the way to the ground. Had one go up the post on the front porch and try to get some baby birds that were in a bird house hanging off our porch Hubby intervened in that one they can climb very well to not have legs. and feet. So just putting hardware cloth part way up the fencing wouldn't keep any snakes out here.

You could also add a squirrel stop of sorts. Depending on their belly scales they may be able to climb hdwr cloth. If they can you may have to add some sort of sheeting they can't with an overhang to prevent body length from being the all important detail.

We have got a peacock

. But we can't kill the snakes as they are native. So we will have to secure everything else.

I can't eat a snake

. But I do like the idea of covering my coop in wire, my ducks always make holes in whatever I use.
