help! somebody's roosting on the heat lamp

The heat lamp in the coop keeps going out . . . Thursday, my DH went out to let the girls out, and one of them was perching on the heat lamp! How do I allow them access to the heat AND stop them doing this?

Perhaps wrapping some chicken wire around the top?

would assume it will work it's self out...I mean when the lamp gets hot the chicken will get down. your not going to come out and find it "cooked" or anything...lol
