Help!! Something is hanging from my hen!!

That just doesn't look good. If it was a broken egg, it'd be different, but that looks like part of her has been pulled out, and she won't make it I'm afraid. :(

Agreed. Space isn’t an issue, I’ve just moved her into a cage to separate her while I made her salt bath. They have an enormous run and walk in coop. So I’m thinking mites

If you think it's mites, Permethrin/garden powder will work on killing them both on your chickens and in your coop. What some do is put the powder in an old sock and pat the chickens all over, making sure to get under their wings. Sprinkle it all over your coop, run, and nest boxes. Repeat all this in 10 days as there will be eggs that don't get killed initially and may hatch.

Awesome!!! I will go and get that. I sadly sent my husband out to do the deed on the one that was hurting. But at least she’s not in pain any more and gave us delicious eggs

If you are curious, after she is dead, you can get a closer look at what was hanging out and maybe learn more about what had happened.

When the chicken is dead, it won't be hurt if you touch the area and pull things around trying to get a good look. It also holds still while you look (at least, it holds still after the movement that usually happens right after death.)

Yes you’re right!
