Hi! I'm new to fowl raising, so I need some advice. My in-laws just got 5 turkey poults a few nights ago. This morning when I went out to check on them, I noticed small red spots on the rear corners of almost all of their eyes. It looks almost like broken blood vessels.
I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it, but I have been turning their heat lamp off during the day since they're in a little shed and with the temps in the mid to high 80s, it gets pretty warm where their brooder is. I got home a bit late last night to turn it on and it was kind of cool in the shed. They seemed to be shivering a bit, but warmed up quick once I got the light on. We're going to set up a timer on the light so that doesn't happen again.
In the mean time, has anyone ever seen this before?

Are they mites, mites are red, otherwise I don't see what your saying, and the temp should be fine.

A jeweler's loupe, or other magnifying device, should allow a clearer view of what might be going on.

It's kind of hard to see in the picture. It's slightly red in the corner of the eye, the outer corner. Their eyes aren't running or anything. It's only a few of the chicks that have red spots, not all of them.

That is confusing. I doubt its anything to worry about though.
