My pullet, 4 months old, is making a terrible honking noise when she breathes, both in and out! Also giving a cough and shaking her head sometimes. Could she have something stuck?? or can someone tell me what might be wrong with her?

Does she have access to anytbing that could be stuck? Can you look in her throat and see if anythi g is there? Did this come on suddenly? Is there any wheezing or other symptoms? Wondering if she could have gapeworm.
I just checked her and thank God, she is much improved this morning. Yes, this did come on quite suddenly and while last night she was 'honking' loudly in the inhale and exhale, when I first looked this morning, she wasn't doing it at all. Then upon exertion she was only doing it softly on the inhale but would stop to eat. I'm thinking she does have something stuck and it may clear. Thank you, micstrachant, for your reply!

If it continues, or if this ever occurs again in your flock with one of your chickens, and the individual is showing signs of having discomfort in their throat or crop, first inspect the throat and tongue for any foreign object, then slide a bit of solid coconut oil into their beak and massage the throat and crop very gently.
